Final Project - Stop Motion
Instructions
Stop Motion Exercise
On Week 10, we are required to use different devices, camera and mobile device to take one scene for a stop motion video. The group is according to project 2 shooting production group members. First thing first, we have to select two character to develop a scene. We decided clay to build it.

After finishing both scene with two different device, we continue the editing in desktop software, Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effect at Week 11 tutorial class. Both software have different settings in editing stop motion.

AE (Adobe Effect) needs to take attention on the sequence when importing image while Premiere Pro does not require.
Fig Import Photo
However, the speed of editing the timeline is something that must be done before the photos are imported. Otherwise, it will not work after the photos have been imported.
Fig Timeline
After this, a new sequence needs to be added which should fulfil the specifications of the photographic device. Another way to change the speed of the timeline after importing photos is to use time stretch.
Fig Time Stretch
After some colour and light adjustments, the stop motion edit is complete. The reason why it's easier to practice is because we only have 8 frames per second, while I heard from the teacher that the professional ones can even have more than 40 frames per second.

Final Project
In final project, we have been briefed since Week 1 that our final project is about stop motion with a theme of environmental/awareness issue. But, if not interested in social awareness issue, also encourage to propose idea that you want to do. This is small group project, about two person in one group.
Proposal

Progression
After presenting the proposal to Mr Martin, he advised us to reconsider our stop motion style, and do more research about paper cut stop motion.
Thus, me and Sylvia have done some new research and updated in the proposal above. First, we have try with coloured paper, but the visual effect is quite simple and does not meet our expectation. So, we tried use hand colouring to perform the stop motion. The outcome is good so we continue to illustrate the rest of the assets we needed. As we have did some research, we have learned some skills from youtube, and this only apply on the character that need to move. We bend some copper wire behind the character in compressed spring form, so it can move freely without dropping out. But, we have forgot to take the picture when we doing that part, because this part is challenging and we have spend much time in colouring and wiring on preparation process.

Fig 2.6 Scene 1 Storyboard
Before start filming, we have redraw scene 1 storyboard because we have decided make some changes on it. Mr Martin said that the storyboard and style have been improved in a right way and let us proceed. Then, we have start the filming. The filming takes about 12 hours, and the total with the preparation, we have spends four days in filming and preparation.
We have used two different light mode to show differents scene. Scene 1 and Scene 4 used light mode, while Scene 2 and Scene 3 use dark mode because the scene background story is set in hell.

We have reviewed our filming outcome before start editing, and we have discussed the sound effect we want in preparation. So, I have created an excel sheet to place all of our sound effect for convenience and planning.

Fig 2.11 Editing
Same audio dubbing, some sound needs lower pitch and have to make sure the sound effects are suitable for the scene. Me editing Scene 2 and 3 while Sylvia edit Scene 1 and 4. The colour correction is placed the adjustment layer. The color correction I have been made is to make it more contrast and yellowish only, the original lightning made the editing process simple.
Fig 2.13 Shaking effect
In Scene 3 Shot 1, the falling part is too long and didn't show the effect of falling down in high speed. So, I have added the effect of directional blur to show the shaking effect. After finalizing all, then the video is compile and uploaded in youtube.
